A new gifting feature to engage viewers and boost earnings for YouTube creators.

YouTube is rolling out “jewels” — a digital gifting system allowing users to support live creators during vertical livestreams. This feature, revealed at the Made on YouTube event, will be available to eligible US creators within the YouTube Partner Program.

How It Works

Viewers purchase jewels to send gifts during live sessions, which convert to rubies for creators (valued at 1 cent each). These gifts appear on-screen, enhancing interaction. Creators receive bonus earnings for the next three months, up to $1,000 monthly.

The feature mimics TikTok's gifting system but ties it exclusively to YouTube’s mobile app. Once enabled, creators will forgo Super Stickers revenue.

Why It Matters

By introducing jewels, YouTube is aiming to increase viewer engagement and provide creators with more monetization options. With features resembling TikTok's successful gifting model, YouTube continues evolving its platform to meet competitive demands in the livestreaming space.

Conclusion

This addition underscores YouTube’s commitment to empowering creators while enhancing viewer participation, making the platform more dynamic and interactive.
