One UI 7 Marks the End of DeX PC App Support
Samsung has announced that the DeX app for Windows will no longer be supported with the rollout of One UI 7. Instead, the company is pivoting to Microsoft’s Phone Link as a replacement for its PC screen mirroring and file-sharing functionality. This move reflects the deepening collaboration between Samsung and Microsoft.
What Is Changing?
The DeX PC app, designed to mirror smartphone screens and facilitate file transfers on Windows PCs, will cease to function. Samsung recommends users switch to the Link to Windows feature, which offers similar capabilities and integrates seamlessly with Windows through Microsoft's Phone Link app.
What to Expect in One UI 7?
One UI 7, expected to debut soon, will bring:
Smoother animations.
A redesigned Quick Panel.
AI-powered enhancements.
Dynamic Island-like live activities for notifications.
While the transition might disappoint longtime DeX users, the shift aligns Samsung’s ecosystem closer with Windows-native tools, streamlining productivity for users of both platforms.
Stay tuned for the beta release of One UI 7, which promises a wave of new features alongside this significant change.
