Microsoft ends its standalone Copilot Pro pricing, bundling AI features with 365 subscriptions for improved value.

Introduction

Microsoft has revamped its AI offering, integrating its Copilot features directly into Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions. Previously offered as the standalone Copilot Pro for an extra fee, the new approach is debuting in select markets—Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand—where subscribers can now access AI-enhanced tools without extra monthly charges. The move simplifies access to features like Designer and Copilot in core apps, adding value to existing 365 plans.

Key Features and Changes

Copilot and AI Credits Integration

Microsoft 365 Personal and Family users in these initial markets will now have access to Copilot’s AI capabilities across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, among others. Each subscriber will receive a monthly quota of AI credits, which apply to various applications, including Paint, Photos, and Notepad. The Designer app is also now available, enabling enhanced graphics and content creation.

Price Adjustments and Value Addition

As part of this shift, Microsoft is adjusting subscription prices. In Australia, for example, 365 Family subscriptions are up by 4 AUD (about ₹210), while Personal plans increase by 5 AUD (around ₹265). This is a more economical change compared to the previous Copilot Pro cost of 33 AUD (₹1,760) per month, which users found steep. Microsoft indicates that these adjustments account for the enhanced value and will support future innovations.

Future Expansion

This rollout is likely a precursor to wider adoption in markets like the US and Europe, signaling a potential future expansion if the trial succeeds. The streamlined inclusion of AI features reflects Microsoft’s goal of integrating advanced productivity tools seamlessly within 365 subscriptions.

Conclusion

By bundling AI tools within Microsoft 365, Microsoft makes advanced productivity accessible without hefty additional fees, adding substantial value for global subscribers. This strategic shift could redefine user expectations for office software, especially as AI continues to enhance workplace efficiency.
