Instagram has introduced an exciting new feature that allows users to add up to 20 audio tracks to their Reels. This update, spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, marks a significant enhancement in how users can create and share their content on the platform. By adding multiple tracks, you can now sync different audio to the text, stickers, and clips in your Reels, enabling more dynamic and engaging videos.

Previously, Instagram users were limited to adding just one audio track to their Reels. This new update significantly expands the creative possibilities, allowing for a richer and more personalized video experience. When you add multiple tracks to a reel, Instagram will label the audio mix as belonging to you, giving other users the option to share and reuse it.

How to Use the New Multi-Track Feature

To take advantage of this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Instagram Video Editor: Start by creating a new Reel or editing an existing one.

  2. Hit the “Add to Mix” Button: Look for the new “add to mix” button in the video editor.

  3. Choose Your Tracks: Select the tracks you want to include. You can pick up to 20 different songs.

  4. Select Portions and Placement: Decide which portions of the songs to use and where to place them in your video.

  5. Post Your Reel: After you’ve configured your tracks, post your Reel. Other users will be able to see all the tracks you included and will have the option to "use audio mix" in their own videos.

This new feature can potentially make your videos more captivating and allow for greater storytelling through synchronized audio elements. Imagine syncing a suspenseful track to a dramatic clip or a playful tune to a funny moment in your Reel.

A Competitive Edge Over TikTok

Interestingly, this is a feature that even TikTok, Instagram’s main competitor, does not yet offer. TikTok users currently need to use workarounds or third-party apps to include multiple songs in their videos. Instagram’s new multi-track feature could therefore attract more content creators looking for advanced audio editing capabilities within the app itself.

Creative Possibilities

With the ability to add up to 20 songs, the possibilities for creativity are vast. Whether you’re a musician wanting to showcase multiple tracks, a storyteller syncing different songs to various scenes, or a brand creating an engaging advertisement, this feature provides new ways to captivate your audience.
