The Osmo Action 5 Pro features an improved sensor, up to four hours of continuous recording, and 960fps super slow motion.

DJI has officially entered the professional action camera arena with its new Osmo Action 5 Pro, a direct response to GoPro's Hero 13 lineup. Packed with features tailored for professional videographers and adventure enthusiasts, the Osmo Action 5 Pro offers significant upgrades in both hardware and performance.

With its new 1/1.3-inch sensor, the camera is designed to deliver improved image quality and low-light performance, making it one of the most advanced action cameras on the market. It also boasts a built-in pressure sensor, the ability to record super slow motion at an astonishing 1080p/960fps, and a power-efficient 4nm chip that supports up to four hours of continuous recording on a single charge.

Top-of-the-Line Camera Specs

The Osmo Action 5 Pro is equipped with a 40-megapixel sensor capable of capturing stunningly detailed stills. In terms of video, it features an industry-first 13.5-stop dynamic range, allowing users to capture high-dynamic, low-light video at 4K/60fps. The highlight feature of 960fps slow motion is achieved by recording at 240fps, with DJI’s advanced technology intelligently generating the extra frames for ultra-slow playback.

Improved Battery Life and Performance

DJI promises a remarkable battery life improvement with the Osmo Action 5 Pro. Its 1,950mAh battery offers up to four hours of continuous recording—a significant step up from most competitors, including GoPro. However, this figure was achieved under specific conditions: at 1080p/24fps (16:9) with Rocksteady stabilization on, Wi-Fi turned off, and both front and back displays off. When recording in 4K, battery life may slightly decrease, but DJI claims that even in extreme conditions (-20°C to 45°C), the camera can record for up to 3.6 hours.

Enhanced OLED Displays and Connectivity

DJI has replaced the dual LCD screens found in the previous Osmo Action 4 with slightly larger OLED displays on both the front and back. These reduced-bezel screens deliver richer and more vibrant colors, making it easier for users to frame shots and review footage in real-time.

In addition to improved display technology, the Osmo Action 5 Pro comes with 47GB of built-in storage, allowing users to start shooting straight out of the box. This eliminates the need to search for a compatible microSD card immediately, though external storage will still be required for larger projects.

For audio capture, the camera now supports a pair of DJI Mic 2 Bluetooth microphones, making it a versatile option for capturing professional-level interview audio and other sound-based content.

Key Features and Accessories

DJI has packed the Action 5 Pro with a host of additional features to enhance the filming experience:

  • Waterproofing down to 20 meters (66 feet)

  • 4K/120fps capture in 4:3 aspect ratio

  • Wi-Fi 6 and USB 3.0 connectivity

  • 360-degree horizon lock for smoother stabilization

  • Subject tracking and automatic post-production cropping

Although the camera lacks built-in GPS, users can add location data and sports tracking when paired with devices like DJI’s Osmo Action GPS Bluetooth Remote Controller.

Pricing and Availability

The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is now available at a starting price of ₹28,900 for the standard combo kit. This kit includes essential accessories like a horizontal-vertical protective frame, battery, USB-C cable, and various mounting and cleaning tools to get you started. The package offers a competitive alternative to GoPro’s latest offerings while providing professional-grade features that cater to a wide audience of action and adventure filmmakers.

Conclusion: A Professional-Grade Contender

DJI’s Osmo Action 5 Pro brings a host of new features designed to enhance both casual and professional filmmaking. With impressive image quality, extended battery life, and cutting-edge slow-motion capabilities, it is a serious competitor in the action camera market. For ₹28,900, it provides an excellent balance of performance and value, positioning it as a top choice for action camera enthusiasts.
