Users Will Have to Wait for Siri-Controlled Cleaning

Apple has quietly pushed back the integration of robot vacuums into its HomeKit ecosystem, now slated for early 2025. Initially announced for iOS 18, the feature was expected to arrive by the end of 2024 but has been delayed, as confirmed by updates on Apple’s HomeKit webpage.

What’s Coming in 2025?

The update will allow users to control robot vacuums through Siri, manage cleaning modes, power settings, and charge status. Automations and scenes will also incorporate these devices, marking a significant leap in smart home functionality. This upgrade is tied to Apple's implementation of Matter 1.2, which supports robot vacuum cleaners across platforms.

Other Delays in iOS 18 Features

The setback follows delays in Apple Intelligence features and Siri’s major upgrades, some of which are trickling out in iOS 18.2. Despite these postponements, Apple remains committed to enhancing the HomeKit ecosystem for seamless smart home integration.

Users eager to simplify their cleaning routines will have to wait a bit longer, but 2025 promises a more connected experience with Apple Home.
