From iPhone 16 to the Watch Series 10, Apple’s latest event was packed with exciting updates.
Apple’s much-anticipated “It’s Glowtime” event has come to a close, bringing a wave of announcements that are sure to shake up the tech world. While the spotlight was on the iPhone 16, Apple had plenty more in store, from new advancements in its smartwatch lineup to updates on the AirPods. Here are the eight biggest takeaways from Apple’s latest showcase.
1. The iPhone 16 Adds Two New Buttons
Apple introduced two new buttons to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models, one of which is a DSLR-like capture button designed for snapping photos, recording videos, and adjusting camera settings. Additionally, the new Action Button, which first appeared in last year’s Pro models, has been added to the regular iPhone lineup. These models feature rear cameras that support spatial video recording, enhancing their compatibility with the Apple Vision Pro headset.
Powered by the faster A18 chipset, the iPhone 16 series is equipped to handle Apple’s new AI features. The 6.1-inch iPhone 16 is priced at ₹66,000, while the 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus starts at ₹74,000. Both models will be available in white, black, green, pink, and blue and begin shipping on September 20.
2. Bigger Displays and Better Cameras for iPhone 16 Pro
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models boast larger displays than their predecessors, with the Pro now sporting a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max upgraded to a 6.9-inch display. These devices feature the new capture button and an upgraded A18 Pro chip, promising faster performance and better battery life. The Pro Max, in particular, is touted as having the “best iPhone battery life ever.”
Both Pro models are equipped with a 5x telephoto camera featuring a “tetraprism” design, alongside an upgraded 48MP ultrawide sensor and a 48MP “Fusion camera.” Available in gold, black, white, and natural titanium, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at ₹82,500, while the Pro Max will retail for ₹99,000. Pre-orders begin on Friday, with availability in stores starting September 20.
3. iPhone 16 Gains Visual Intelligence
Apple is launching Apple Intelligence, its new suite of AI-powered features, across the entire iPhone 16 lineup. Starting with a beta version next month, Apple Intelligence will allow users to search their photo libraries by describing images and even create custom emojis.
A standout feature is the Visual Intelligence that enhances the capture button. This tool can automatically identify objects in photos, like concert posters, and suggest actions such as adding events to your calendar. Apple Intelligence is set to be a major driver of the iPhone 16’s appeal, adding a layer of smart functionality to everyday tasks.
4. Apple Watch Series 10 Gets a Bigger Display and a Slimmer Profile
The Apple Watch Series 10 introduces Apple’s largest wide-angle OLED display to date, which is also 40% brighter when viewed at an angle. It sports the thinnest profile of any Apple Watch yet and includes new health features, such as the ability to detect signs of sleep apnea by measuring breathing disturbances during sleep.
The Series 10 comes in polished aluminum (with black, rose gold, and silver options) or polished titanium, which is 20% lighter than the Series 9. Pricing starts at ₹33,000, with availability starting on September 20.
5. The Apple Watch Ultra Debuts in Satin Black
While the Apple Watch Ultra didn’t receive any major new features, Apple did unveil a stunning new satin black finish for the device. Additionally, Apple introduced a titanium Milanese Loop band that’s designed for scuba diving, crafted from corrosion-resistant titanium. This luxurious addition to the Ultra lineup is perfect for adventurers seeking both style and substance.
6. AirPods 4 Get Better Audio and ANC
Apple’s fourth-generation AirPods are here, featuring the all-new H4 chip that promises better sound quality. With an open-ear design, these are Apple’s “most comfortable AirPods” to date. The new AirPods also feature voice isolation and transparency mode, making them ideal for noisy environments.
The AirPods 4 are available in two versions: one without active noise cancellation (ANC) priced at ₹10,600, and one with ANC for ₹14,700. Both versions come with a USB-C-compatible charging case that includes a speaker, so you can use the Find My app to locate your earbuds. Shipping begins on September 20.
7. AirPods Pro 2 Become a Hearing Aid
Later this year, Apple will roll out software updates that will transform the AirPods Pro 2 into over-the-counter hearing aids. These updates will also introduce features designed to protect hearing and conduct clinical-grade hearing tests, expanding the functionality of Apple’s premium earbuds. The hearing aid feature will be available in over 100 countries and regions.
8. AirPods Max Get USB-C Charging
Apple has also updated its over-the-ear AirPods Max. Along with some new color options, the AirPods Max now come equipped with USB-C charging, replacing the outdated Lightning port. This small but important change brings the Max in line with the rest of Apple’s lineup, which is gradually shifting to USB-C for more universal compatibility.
Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event was filled with exciting announcements, ranging from AI-powered enhancements to sleek new designs across its product lines. Whether you're looking to upgrade your iPhone, smartwatch, or AirPods, the latest updates from Apple promise something for everyone.
